Seems bright enough when in my hand Nov 05, 2009 Great shipping and nice that it's ready to go right out of the package. When I'm holding it and look right into the light it seems painfully bright yet that effect maybe directional. When it's on the bike and I walk behind the bike to eval the light it is less impressive. Overall it's a good value and I have no regrets but I will continue to use the reflective vest in addition to the lights.
Simply The Best Tail Light Available So Far. Love it! Oct 26, 2009 I did a lot of research, read endless reviews, and did a lot of hands-on in stores. After all, if your bike riding entails much time sharing even suburban side streets with cars and preoccupied/oblivious/attitudinal/texting drivers, your tail light is crucial and could make the difference between a nice ride or a trip to the ER. And after lots of hands-on, the Super Flash (as many other reviews attest, here and elsewhere on the Web) is just hands-down the best tail light available(as of this point in LED development, which of course will continue to evolve in the next 2-3 years, although it will take a lot to surpass the current Super Flash).
I love this light. It's plastic, but build quality feels pretty good. It's easily removable, and clips securely to a jacket, strap etc. (It normally comes with a mount for a rear bike rack in addition to the standard seatpost mount, make sure the source you order from includes the rear rack mount; if not it can still be ordered seperately). It has two modes: steady on and a 1-2-3 flashing mode which is a real attention getter. Both are bright and very visible (not always the same thing). Good side visibility, which isn't always apparent in product photos, I'd say about a 140 degree field from the rear/side. VERY bright from directly behind in the same lane. I was a little concerned from other reviews if it would prove obnoxious/too blindingly bright to other riders on bike trails, and glad to say it's not. [...] I'm very pleased with this light, and bought it again for a friend. The case opens and closes easily to change batteries; I haven't had it out in any drenching downpours so can't comment on water resistance. On-off button is located on the very bottom, (not the rear) & easy to find by touch. This light is a winner. Now stop reading all these reviews, buy it, and enjoy your bright well-chosen and reasonably priced tail light. One shortcoming -- not waterproof enough Oct 16, 2009 I have about four rear safety flashers that I've gone through; this is the most recent purchase. I was quite happy with my previous flasher, but after adding a seat post mounted water bottle cage, I had to find a flasher that would work on the seat stays.
The vertical orientation of the Planet Bike Blinky Super Flash fit the bill. It is lightweight, bright, and does the job well.
My only complaint is last week I did an organized ride and it ended up raining hard enough that all the routes got shunted into the short course, 25 miles. Thus, I was out in the rain for about 90 minutes. When I got off the bike, I noticed the Blinky was stuck in the solid "on" state, instead of the flash pattern I had put it in originally. Pressing the button on the bottom didn't change the blink, nor did it turn off the unit like it should. I popped out the batteries and there was a few drops of water on the inside of the unit, somehow messing with the electronics.
I left it open for a few days and it now works like it should.
Although having the unit get stuck in the "on" position wasn't any catastrophe, I fear that it could just as easily have decided to switch off, which would have put me in jeopardy in the pouring rain.

Great Little Light! Oct 06, 2009 I bought two Planet Bike Superflashes for a recent bicycle tour of Coastal Oregon and Northern California. My intent was to mount them to the flat light bracket on my Tubus rear rack, but there were no provision on the Superflashes for mounting to a flat surface... What to do? After trying several options I cut an old inner tube to the length of the mounting plate, split that section of inner tube, and then slipped it over the mounting plate. This worked something like an elastic waste band and the two Superflashes clipped easily and securely to the rubber-covered light mount. I checked the configuration a couple of times during the tour and it held up well; no adjustments required. The superflashes worked superbly during the tour. We cycled during conditions that ranged from rainy, to foggy, to low light (under canopies of Redwoods), to sunny and the superflashes were always on while we were on the bikes, which was seven-to-eight hours per day for two weeks. The lights always worked reliably and the batteries lasted for the entire two-week tour. I can't say enough good things about these lights and how they enhance rider safety. Having two of them mounted to my rack was an added plus. They absolutely generate a second look from motorists. So in sum you have a nice, reliable product at a good price. What's not to like?
best taillight bar none, and super-COOL! Oct 04, 2009 This light is incredibly bright, and its flash pattern is like a disco light show! Everyone comments on how cool it is! Spend a little extra money and buy this light- you'll be much safer, and you'll love showing it off.
